Thanks for sharing your story! Boy, what kind of a world would it be if the kids today got in such "Big, Bad" trouble! Ha Ha.
Well, again, it is time for all the little goblins to come to the door. When we lived in Hartsel, Co. we would have maybe 12 to 30 kids. Here we have about 200 and that is before we turn out our light. The truck loads keep coming late into the night.........the air smells of Fuel. Our little one will be a race car driver and made me promise not to take him near any skeletons! pat

DEAR FRANKIE........ GLAD THAT YOU AND SYLVIA HAD A GOOD CRUISE. I CRUISED THIS SUMMER WITH MY SON & DAUGHTER-IN-LAW & IT WAS GREAT!
TO YOU & PAT, I AM PRESENTING: THE LAKE FOREST STORY
TOLD TONIGHT IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR THE FIRST TIME!
WE HAD A HOUSE GUEST FROM RICES LANDING & WE DECIDED TO GO NIGHT SWIMMING AT LAKE FOREST....... WE WENT WITH THREE GUYS FROM PERRY, WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS. I ONLY REMEMBER ONE NAME ANYWAY.
WHEN WE GOT TO LAKE FOREST, IT WAS CLOSED SO WE DECIDED TO GO TO THE DRIVE-IN MOVIE. REMEMBER, NO CELL PHONES IN THOSE DAYS SO NO WAY TO CALL HOME.
THE MOVIE HAD ALREADY STARTED SO OF COURSE, WE STAYED LATER TO WATCH THE ONE WE MISSED ALL THE WAY THROUGH AGAIN.
WE STARTED HOME & I SWEAR WE WERE STOPPED BY THE LONGEST TRAUN IN HISTORY. FINALLY WE GOT ON OUR WAY & GOT TO LAYTON & GOT STOPPED BY ANOTHER TRAIN THAT WAS LONG, LONG, LONG.
WHEN WE FINALLY GOT HOME MY MOTHER WAS CRYING & MY BIG BROTHER RUSHED OUT TO THE CAR & TOLD US TO GET OUT & TOLD THE BOYS TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE & NEVER COME BACK.
AND WE NEVER SAW THEM AGAIN!

Hi Everyone........ my computer went to the big web page in the sky! That may be a misnomer but everyone knows that I'm computer illiterate.
At any rate, becaiuse of the generosity of somebody's kid, I got a new computer for Christmas. So, here I am.
June is really good....... she misses Perryopolis & her little house in Perryopolis but we were keeping pretty busy up until Christmas with concerts etc., & then I worked myself into a 2007 slump.
Glenna was just here....... sshe had no chemo & no radiation & she looks great.
Frankie, I'm glad that you had a successful hip replacement....... I am fighting it tooth & nail.
Anyway, life is good here in Frigidville...... about 20 degrees most days & a little beautiful snow recently. It makes everything look so pristine.
To the Rolisons in New Mexico....... hope that you are all hale & hearty.

Well, it is going to be Halloween again! Right back where we started from in 2001! Can you believe it?
David, I had hoped to run into you at the park in Perry but I was only there for a quick pancake breakfast. The Park is beautiful. Have you been there Frankie? Anyway, most of my time was spent running back & forth to Childrens hospital in Pittsburgh. I got home the night of the 11th and Had company arrive on the 13th for a 4 day stay. Today, I'm relaxing......it's my Birthday! My Grandson should be able to go home from Childrens on Monday. I've not had any info on June and I'm starting to worry.

Thanks Wendi Kozinsky for bringing up Spillway Lake! What good times we had there in the '50s also. There was a bus that would stop at the Diamond and pick up the Perry Kids (can't remember if it stopped in Star Junction) but it stopped somewhere else up on 51. We would swim for hours on end. Then ride the bus into town and walk home. Oh Lord, give me some of that energy now!

I put pictures in snail mail today to The Web master and have been trying to get the rest of the family to get their pictures to him so he can come up with something. Others have good pictures they can just E-mail.
I'm not sure if Sistie is on Vacation (didn't she say something about going to Flordia & some other places?) Glenna has June at her place to care for and I just pray June is not too bad.
We are getting much more rain than normal here, but the weather seems goofy everywhere.
Do you remember Zack's Resturant in Perry? The Woman (Helen) that owned it, passed away this week.

Oh, OK. Hi, Pat --
I'll be happy to post your pix (not pix's!). The only requirement -- to make your family and the site look good -- is that they be sharp, have good color, recognizable people, and a caption identifying the subjects left-to-right, if applicable. Someone (was it you?) sent me a bunch of pix of old tombstones. Bad! Bad! People want to see people, not stones!
Snail mail coming via e-mail, or you could use switchboard.com. We're in Maryland.

By Perry (Perry) ( - 188.8.131.52) on Saturday, July 1, 2006 - 10:30 pm:
Home, The best part of any trip is walking thru the doors to your own abode!
We had a wonderful Reunion and yes Mom did very well and was able to see lots of family & friends. It was even dry for the day.
The trip both into Pgh. and back to El Paso was so awful I just don't want to fly again and this is coming from one that has flown since I was 16 years old & loved it. But the main thing is the time there was good.
Like all towns I see good & bad. It is good to see that things are clean and neat and getting updated. I don't like seeing old buildings torn down that have so much History. I hope somone will "Save" The movie building. I hope Donna & Steve will be able to keep My Grandpap's Old Blacksmith shop standing. I don't like the fact that there is not a food store left in the center of town.
This is what bothers me the most,I think: This is the 3rd time now I have traveled back and made several trips around town and don't even see a person on the street (let alone anyone I know). This is very strange to me because I remember Perry always being "busy", people walking here & there all over the circle & stoping to talk to each other.
About 14 of us went to church & that brought back many memories, even with all the nice new up dates.
I took my grown children on a walking tour of Perry.......of my life from birth to age 10 and they were surprised at what freedom I enjoyed. Kids today can't enjoy such freedom as we knew when the whole town looked after it's children.
It was good. I'm glad we worked to put this reunion togeather. I'm glad mom was able to go
I enjoyed my time there.
I'll Drive the next time.

Hi Pat Iwas waiting until you got back to see how you felt about what they are doing to our nice old town of Perry.I sure don,t like what they are doing.I liked it as it was.How did your Mother do at the reunion? Oh boy, I'm so excited! Sistie, I'm sure everyone will be asking about June at the reunion, would you give me an update. The Dr. gave mom some shots in her back & with her pain meds & her wanting to see everyone, looks like I'm going to get her to Perry. I think the world may tilt Wed. night as so many of us are landing at approx the same time in Pgh. Are you back in Flordia yet Frankie? What is your news of Perry?
In case anyone missed it FALBO FAMILY REUNION Sat. the 24th in Perry. See you all there!

Oh,no! Looks like some of the Grist Mill is being messed with again. What A pain for David & everyone.
One of the reasons I don't live in the East is because I can't take all the rain, damp, dank, dark moldy days. Well let me tell you, we have not had any water for so long even I will enjoy a little Humidity! But I hope it does not rain on the 24th of June!
By Perry (Perry) ( - 188.8.131.52) on Monday, May 15, 2006 - 10:27 pm:
I was looking at the pictures around town & came upon the Karolcik Building where you listed all of the stores & shops in that building. I came to The Grist Mill to tell you that Mr. Colelli's shoe repair shop was just next to the meat market & Pat beat me to it.......... great minds run in the same pattern or something like that.
Mr. Colelli was one of the nicest men in town....... we went inside to see him even if we didn't have shoes to repair. Glenna & I bought our matching mocassins there. God bless...... Hallie
By Perry (Perry) ( - 184.108.40.206) on Sunday, May 14, 2006 - 06:34 pm:
I can remember just a little bit of the Shoe shop in Perryopolis. I can't picture Mario Colelli, but I know he was always nice to me when I would leave off shoes (with a note). He would read the note, shaking his head up and down, then say a day, like, you come back Friday.
The thing I remember most was the "smell" of the shop. It was warm and pleasant and I've never ever come across that anywhere else.
By Perry (Perry) ( - 220.127.116.11) on Friday, May 12, 2006 - 05:33 pm:
My brother, Ken Sisley, will be taking the digital pix's and yes I will have him send some that you can choose from. Maybe there will be some others also.
It would be nice if Ruth Shields and Joan Lyons could stop by with some of their books for sale. Some family will only be in town for the day and will be flying right back out.
I would like to get a picture of all of us at the Circle (Diamond) but so far can't find anyone that can do that.
I feel so happy that we were able to get the little park at the bottom of Perry Hill, it is going to be just right!
By Perry (Perry) ( - 18.104.22.168) on Thursday, May 4, 2006 - 09:31 pm:
Are you going to send some nice, sharp, digital pix of the reunion

June has lost lots of weight & is unbelievably thin.......I tease her about being the thinnest & richest Rolison girl.
I was there for a week last month and as I said very thin & extremely weak.
Glenna and I just get fatter!
Frankie, if you live anywhere near St. Cloud, I will be in Florida in June( I think).

Did you see the Hearald Standard.com news story today, about the Gas Well Explosion? This one was off Rt. 201 in Jefferson Township, Fayette county. I was not surprised at the number of gas wells set up there after my trip back this summer, but I am surprised that 10 to 15 permits are being issued a month! Fayette County, Gas Capital of Pennsylvania?
I know there was a Gas well on my Grandmothers property since I was little, but I think it was capped. Never saw it working.

Glenna & all,
So glad to see you back "on"! Please say hello to June From Jim, Bill, Roanna & me. It would be so nice if tons of people from Perryopolis sent June a Hello from this site.
We had a wonderful time watching the Steelers Game. Just Bill, the dog and me, and of course lots of snacks. We were invited to three different places for the game and in the end just stayed here. We have become such home buddies hard to believe! Also, hard to believe how many people here in N.M. are for the steelers.
Mom has been having a lot of health problems the last couple of weeks. Just working hard to get her in shape to go back to Perryopolis in June for our Family reunion. Most of my computer time has been looking for cheap air tickets cause I know she could never take the trip by car. All the CLan from Az. & Calif. got tickets for $200 So I'm trying! Also, sending in reports for work takes time. Then I don't feel like staying on much longer, but I do check Perryopolis.com each day.
Hear you may get a good storm soon on the East coast hope it does not cause any damage or harm.
By Glenna Nassar ( - 188.8.131.52) on Saturday, February 4, 2006 - 10:26 am:
How are you Pat and Bill??
I got a new computer so haven't been on lately, had to get use to all the new keys and programs.
June arrived in August, doing well now. She was very ill, in the hospital for 14 days the last of November but has done well since coming home. She's back to using her cane, a vast improvement.
She sold her house in December, getting more use to Dover now. It's hard to give up driving and your home, but she has adjusted well. She does miss all her friends and she had many, I don't think I had that many friends in my whole life. She's gained about 10 pounds, her hair is a beautiful white, she does look very healthy now. We try and go to the movies about once a week, she's joined the Newcomers Club, they have a luncheon once a month, hoping she'll meet some ladies she can do things with and feel more confortable with.
Hope all are doing ok in Perryopolis, my wonderful Perryopolis.
Sorry to read that Nick's store is being torn down, you would think they could find a good use for a building that old. There are so many memories of shopping there, you had to go through piles of clothes to find anything but that was the adventure of it all.
I had to put my dog of 12 years, Bailey to sleep, very hard, but I have a new English Springer now, her name is Gracie. So much more engery than Bailey, she never walks when she can run!!
June is very excited about the Steelers, how about those Steelers?? It's so strange, my children were all raised out of the Pittsbugh area but they are all such Steelers fans. I'm not allowed to watch the game though, the kids say when ever I watch I jinx them, so I'll "hide" upstairs and cheer them on when they win!
To all June's friends who might read this, HELLO,
June does miss you all also Perryopolis.

An Idea. Yesterday, I had some time to kill between taking my mom to get new glasses & her Hair Appt. So, we stopped at my place. I brought up perryopolis.com for her and then brought up pictures for her to look at. She enjoyed it very much. Maybe you have someone that would enjoy looking thru the site?

The lot on which Nicholas George's store was located is a trapezium. It is lot No. 5 on the copy of the original town plan on Perryopolis.com. Remember when looking at this plan that west is up and south is left (i.e., the HS is at the top, Star Junction is to the left and Layton is to the bottom.) The former
Palonder's (not Polander's) store is on lot No. 6. I have been told that Leonard "Skip" Pirilla owns the building now, but I haven't asked him, so I can't confirm that. It is possible that he bought lot No. 6 as well.
As for the use of this lot, we can only hope. I lost faith when the people of Perryopolis allowed the Wade House and the bank building to be destroyed.
As you can see from the plan, there are many trapezoidal lots, some pentagons, and a few triangles thrown in. Note that the lots are numbered in a clockwise spiral starting with the lot on which the yellow brick building that once housed "The Leader Store" stands.
By prolison ( - 126.96.36.199) on Friday, December 16, 2005 - 09:30 pm:
That was kinda an odd shape lot where Nick's store was, if I remember right. Anyone know if there are Plans for something to go there? There was nothing in The Polanders building when I was in Perry in Aug. ( Nice Building ) seems like some one would be able to use it. Boy, lots of memories there! I use to love taking Mom & Dads bills there to get stamped PAID (was that electric, water, gas???) Then of course, there was Christmas! Oh, to go Up stairs and see the toys and Santa! I'm pretty sure that is where "Santa" found my first Roadmaster 2 wheel Bike.
Well, before things get really crazy busy here, I wish one and all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!

Doing O.K. here & last time I had a personal note from Sistie, she was O.K. Our Weather beautiful & sunny. Our leaves are starting to fall which will mean a lot of work as our house has really big Mullberry trees all around it. We love them for the shad in the summer, however, no one is allow to plant any more of them here in town because they claim they use too much water. We have never watered ours! It is enough to try to keep a little patch of grass out front & the flowers watered, most of the "yard" is stone. We keep some scrappy grass in part of the back yard for the dog, the rest is stone & beds. There is something to say about not having so muxh grass to cut!

Bill said his dad did not make it to 72 (too Young) so June is already older than him & looks like the oldest in the family.
I worked in Las Cruces, doing a revision at Dollar General, yesterday and it was 99. Did you know Perryopolis now has a Dollar General? It opened while I was back there in Aug.
Bill & I did a little trimming in the back yard this morning but it just got too sunny & hot by 10:00am to keep with it, will try some more this evening.
Really can't say anything bad about our weather when I see what all is going on East & South of us!

Our adorable Black Lab is now 6yrs. old and still thinks he is a pup at times! He loves walking on the Desert with Bill and getting out the Jack's. He gets along with kids & people, but will not tolerate other dogs.
JUst glanced up at the date on my first message, can you believe it will soon be Halloween of 2005! And no one has told me yet if the kids still march around the Circle, Diamond, Washington Square what ever you want to call it.

I will be in Perry on Saturday for a class reunion in Pittsburgh........ I plan to drive to Delaware at the end of the month to visit Glenna & June.
Frankie & Sylvia....... I will be in Harmony at the beginning of November. I won't have a car but maybe we can figure out a way to get together.

Sistie, any new news on June?
Frankie, are you well out of the way of this new hurricane that has it's sights on the south east coast?
I did get up over Layton Hill while I was in Perry & saw the gas wells you wrote about. There seem to be gas wells all over the place back there.
Does anyone else feel like I do......There is just way to much going on in this old World!

I spent two hours today in Perry looking for some post cards of the area. Nope/nada not one to be had. No mugs, key chains, or other little items with Perryopolis printed on them. The cute little shops & the drug store called about for me, everyone tryed to help......no post cards. That's a shame.
Went past June's house.....it looks "sad" with out her. Hope she will find a workable answer.
The School looks so much better with the Red trim! Much more up beat.
You all can turn off the steam heat anytime you want. We get High temps.in NM, but this is crazy.
Well, "MY" childhood home (Red Brick Ranch on Layton Rd.) is for sale again. My Son, brother & I walked thru it a couple of days ago. WE even walked up to the falls on the creek. Right now it is just a trickle. But I was going thru a flood of memories. Dad built a really solid house and it has been updated and added to in a very nice manner.
Did you see that back up on 79' this week because the crane hit the power lines? Guess who was stuck in that? Oh well, I always knew the center strip had some reason for being there! We made the airport in time.
Frankie, I've been running one direction or the other everyday but I've not been up over Layton hill yet. That is on my list. I'm taking the little one to a festival on Rt. 31 tomorrow. Maybe, if I don't turn into fried bacon, I'll get up there Monday morning.

Larry did write me a nice note and I guess I wasn't too far off about the sledding accident. It is a wonder we all were not killed, some of the things we did! Did we talk about the home made raft on the slough? That one really makes me shudder now.

Sistie, Glenna, Frankie, & all
Not sure if any of you remember Ernie & Ruth Easter? Two daughters, Barbara & Beverly. Aunt Babe. They lived over Kranicks Store on the Dimond. Then built a house on Rt. 51 near Smock. Then moved to Az. Barbara and I were in Sunday School & Grade school togeather. We jot notes & Christmas Cards yet today. So this years Christmas Card had the sad note that Ruth had passed away in June. So I thought I'd pass that along & know June proably knew them & maybe Sistie had Barbara in her Sunday school class. I think Ernie is on the Classmates page.
I don't think I ever was in Kranicks store.....what did they sell? I only remember playing up on the screened in porch of the apartment. Ruth got a new fridge one day and let Barbara & I play with the Box (yes, at one time they came in a strong box). The box quickly became a Stage Coach as Barbara & I were exposed to way to many westerns at the Perry theater! Ruth just had a good laugh over that and the more I think about it Ruth was always laughing or had a smile on her face.

I also would sled on the row hill. I was a little more comfortable on that one, however,That is where one of the kids got hurt. I believe his name was Robert & he lived on the row. I wasn't there that day but if I remember right he slid into a parked car, broke his arm.
My Aunt Midge lived up that road on the other side of the Row.....a house kinda by it's self on the hill.....above Stipas (sp). So I liked visiting her so I could see all the kids that lived up that a way. My cousin (2nd cousin?) Paul lived down on the flat by the slough. The boys from the row & Paul built a raft and took it out on the slough & I was "allowed" to go with them on the first outing. God, I'd still be afraid to tell my mom about that one!
Also, up at that house of my Aunts is where I got the worse case of Poison Ivy know to man kind! I was helping weed out the Hedges. Doc Bunnichi (SP) had to give me a shot every day for a week & it took about 3 weeks to go away. pat

I'm glad that they can still do this fun thing. So many things that we had the freedom to do as kids seems to be gone now days.
I just got back from the 76th Czechoslovakian Klobase Festival at the Courthouse Park here in Deming. I don't have to eat for the rest of the week! I keep thinking that's something else Perry could do & should be able to do very well!

Well, it is almost Halloween again and I still don't know if the kids in Perry Dress up and march around the diamond like we use to do!
Midge said Hello to everyone. They are enjoying a get togeather in Yuma, Az. today with her Kids & Terry Falbo. Marie Falbo (Ab's wife) lives in Winter Park,Fl. & her Daughter Nancy lives in Oviedo, Fl. Both, I think pretty close to Orlando.
Midge, Mom & I talked about the Rock falling in Layton Tunnel. That was just so awful. Because we had the only house along Layton road people were always coming to our door to use the phone if they had a flat tire, ran out of gas, or had an accident of any kind. This time we just saw traffic back up & the fire truck. Midge said mom called her & said I think there is a wreck down the road & Midge came right down. We "kids" were kept away. I think the family went to First Christian Church and I always thought the mom was a Beautiful Woman. There were several very bad accidents along that road.
Mom has been in the hospital, she is home now & doing better how ever we have 3 Drs. to see this coming week. I'll let you know more when I know more.
We are still enjoying the 80's daytime here and low 40's at night. I love it! This time of year in Hartsel would call for the heat to be on at night & I'd be digging out all the winter clothes. It will be a nice change of pace for my Brother Ken & his wife Geri when they come out at Thanksgiving.
Again David thanks for this site it means a lot!

Hi Frankie........ Thanks for the information I wa s discussing the accident with somebody yesterday.
I forgot to tell you earlier that my former Pastor lived in Lakeland for many years....... he just died there about 4 months ago.
Harmony is about half an hour from Orlando...... right outside of St. Cloud. We went to Disney World in January & Bill & Jen just loved Florida! They were thinking of moving back to the mid-west but had very good friends moving to Harmony & decided to give it a look-see.
Say "hi" to Sylvia......God bless!

Hi Frankie.......I haven't been on for a while
I lost my purse 2 months ago & what a disaster.....I lost everything: glasses, credit cards, bank cards, checkbook.......they were welcome to my $2.99 purse but I wish they would have sent back my paperwork. The loss of a checkbook is horrible.......some days I could just cry!
On a lighter note, I will be visiting Florida at the end of October...... my son & daughter-in-law moved to Harmony & were promptly greeted by three hurricanes. However, no real damage to their house. I hope to hook up with Dorothy & Walter Rock while I'm there.
Frankie, I'm glad that you & your wife escaped the hurricanes.
My e-mail address is: Sistie829@netscape.net.....God bless!

We had wind and rain storms, but nothing severe. Hurricane Ivan spawned high winds and a number of tornadoes in parts of Maryland to the west of us, and a couple of people were killed. We had no damage.

So sorry to hear about your misfortune, A women losing her purse.......that is Hell! Very scary these days.
Well, I can now say I have been to a real live Duck Race. What fun! Someone from Perry needs to get in on this & use the Idea there for Pioneer Days. Not only fun but a money maker.
I'm in Heaven.....or soon will be. Make a Wish is going to fly my Grandson to Austin Texas to spend a day with Thomas The Train & his Aunt & Uncle. Then Uncle Wayne is flying Grandson over to see me (grandma) and Great grandma (Roanna). So, I'm out looking at cribs & other baby stuff to make his stay easy & waiting for Aprea to deliver Oxygen, mister & other needed supplies & eguipment
Also walking around the house saying, "this will have to go, put this up high, lock that up"...it's been awhile for me!!!
Jim & Bill did the Mud Bog Races last Sat. & the Rodeo last night. Does my heart good to see these "boys" spending fun time togeather

Sistie, I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune. There is nothing that anyone can say that will make a complicated mess like yours easier to get through -- except maybe that things have got to get better because it looks like they can't get much worse! I hope firstly that you find your purse; if that can't be, I hope that you recover soon!

I haven't posted because I am in the depth of depression...... first of all, I lost my purse. Everything was gone..... my cash, driver's license, health card, credit card, ATM card, pictures of my family. But the worst of all was my checkbook......what an absolute mess. Then to top it off, some sweet Dearborn cop gave me a ticket. I don't need to worry about dying.......I'm already in hell!!!

O.K. folks, I'm just getting to use to hoping back & forth across the border, I guess. Today I thought I was going to have a stroke. No kidding!
I have never been stopped going "into" Mexico. As I drove in Lights flashed & horns sounded and I had to get out and open my trunk. Seems my foil sun screen set everything off! Now I have this little 95 Ford Escort that I be bop around in and believe me it was the best looking car in town. However, I think while I was looking in the trunk with the uniformed guy, someone must have put a bull's eye on it cause everyone seemed to be bent on raming me. Then they raised the price of all the Meds.......a lot! Then a truck load of little uniformed men with AK47's almost as big as they were stopped beside us as mom went into a store with Bill to get her cigs. while I waited in the car keeping the A/C going. The hair on the back of my neck was saying things to me & I really wanted to get going. Then we got stopped twice leaving.....on our side! Ugh! not the best trip.

After filling out the on line forms for the Employment Office(it is no longer the UNemployment office) I thought I would do some "fun puter" stuff. Checked the Sr. Center to see if I needed to report anything to mom. I want to be under 10 years of age again! Guess most of you remember when the center was the post office?
Well, after school on Fridays I would pack up my clothes, go to the P.O. pick up My Grams & Paps mail & their news paper & sit on those steps and wait for my Pap to stop on his way home from work. It was a fun time waiting for him there as I got to talk with lots of kids picking up their family mail. Then the old truck would pull up and Pap would say "Did you get the mail? Do you have the paper? Then I guess you can hop in the back."
I loved riding in the back of that old truck. ( I don't think that is allowed today ) So I would spend time at the farm till time for church Sunday morning. What good times!
So anyone else have any stories about the Old Post Office? Was there another PO before the one that is now the Sr. Center?

As I said earlier, we had a marvelous time.....this was my first cruise & I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, ( except getting fried in the Bahamas.)

Hi Glenna & All,
I'm still having trouble with my computer. I can get E-mail but seems like I can't send it. Tried to send an E-mail to the Perry class page to change my address & I guess they did not get it. I get E-mail from my daughter in law in Texas and friends all over the states, but when I reply they do not get it. My computer says it is sent. So tomorrow I call the server & see if they can walk me thru anything. I've been messing around & reading the books but can't get the right answer. Whine, whine whine.
Our fire works around here went on and on till 1am and all that time I had to comfort the dog.
I was begining to think "everyone" was on vacation as no one had posted in a long time.
My son,in Iraq, just got The DeFleury Award and I'm not sure why cause it has to do with the engineering community then what he is into. So, I'm trying to learn more about that. Also I see that the guys where he is at hosted a BBQ at Camp Victory & invited several of the Iraq Street people to it, so waiting to hear more about that.
What is new with everyone????? pat

Thanks for the Good info. Yes I think Mac will have to go on my " I want list". I'm tired of fighting windows ( and the Techs). If I hear, "Oh sometimes windows just works that way", one more time I will scream!
Right now I'm just so glad to be back on line and hope to get messages back & forth with my son. I did hear from his wife that he was flown into D.C. from Baghdad for a quick conference. She flew up from Texas for a few hours with him and right back he went. As you well know, I may never know what that was all about.

I really do sympathize with y'all and your computer problems, but I have to laugh at the same time. There's a well kept secret in the computing world — it's called the Apple Macintosh computer — known to users as the Mac. It has the world's easiest-to-use (and therefore most powerful) operating system — Mac OS X. It has excellent software, and the hardware is anything but dull. The Mac can read and write data from and to Windows computers and it can share a network connection and printers with Windows computers. To see who uses Macs and what they think of the Mac, take a look at http://www.annapolisappleslice.com/who.html
What the Mac doesn't have is crashes, viruses, worms, spyware, and other such delights of the Windows world. We Mac users call Microsoft the "Typhoid Mary of Computing." Worth checking out the next time you're in the market. http://www.apple.com/switch
All the best,
David — One very happy Mac user

June and I are in Colorado, Longmont, place of home for now. We don't have an address or phone number for you since your move.. We also flew out so aren't in a position to travel. We're leaving Denver on the 26th of May, staying a day or two in Dover De., on to Annapolis for a day, Northern Virginia and then to Perryopolis. I tried to talk June into staying for another few days but she misses her house and her friends.
It's been good for June, she loves children and there are 4 here to talk and read to.
Weather has been wonderful here, warm without the East Coast humidity.
Hope your enjoying your new home, its a job moving isn't it??????

Pat wasn't kidding. When we were in Star Junction Elementary School we knew children whose families were so poor that they lived in abandoned coke ovens. We knew it, but I don't recall anyone ever talking about it because, even considering how cruel children can be, most of us understood poverty quite well, and no one wanted to hurt these less fortunate children by throwing their misfortune in their faces.
Meanwhile, the wealthy, most of whom derived their wealth from government welfare but didn't know it or would never admit it, were staunchly opposed to spending welfare dollars on the poor. The same as today, in other words. We have two economic systems in this country: socialism for the rich and powerful and free market economics for everyone else.

Interesting conversation. Brings back many great memories of both Layton and Perryopolis. Our children have no clue what fun it was being a child and growing up in a small town. Playing sports was fun..Mr Yeash was the only one that ran the baseball leagues and Mr Farkus traveling from town to town during the summers with games to play. Everything now is too organized.

Sistie, Just say Hello to Joe from me.
Frankie, I use to love to roller skate at the Perry rink. Remember how they would open the doors(with the metal grates) to let in the air and everyone would stand out side and people would talk back & forth thru the grate? And Who would bake the cakes for the cake walks?
We woke up to 5" of that fluffy white stuff this morning. Bill & I were talking about how many times it would snow for Easter in Pa.
Talked with my mom (Roanna) this morning. She was enjoying her morning coffee on the patio in N.M. JUst a few more weeks & I'll be doing the same!!!!!!

Happy-Happy Birthday Perryopolis.com !!!! So glad you were born!!!!
Yes, The Coke Ovens on Rt. 51 should be saved. Maybe the Perryopolis Historical Society would have some ideas. We all have to remember it takes money to do this stuff and a lot of hard work. I would guess the first thing would be to buy them & a group already in place to do that would be the P.H.S. They may also have some info about other groups that have already taken on this kind of project. Side note: wonder how many people know that in hard times people have lived in the coke ovens?
I now can picture Molinaro's and Michelli's and was the Company Store still in Operation in the 50's?
Where is "Joe "Mouse" Michelli anyone know?
By Sistie ( - 18.104.22.168) on Thursday, April 1, 2004 - 07:51 pm:
Dear Ralph.........How would you go about saving them? Any ideas?
When I moved to Perryopolis the coke ovens were still burning. I have said many times that it was a pity to let that part of history die.

I see there is a for sale sign along 51, in front of the last remaining coke ovens, between Perry and Star Junction.
It would be nice to save and restore them. They would be an added shot in the arm for tourism, not even to mention as an educational site. Something for the areas children of the future.

There was a second little store -- Molinaro's -- in Star Junction. It was in the white building (still standing) on the corner where old 51 comes into town and makes a sharp right turn toward "new" 51. I seem to recall that it was slightly larger than Mrs. Michelli's store.
As for the Company Store, have you seen the picture of the original store?
I would love for someone to send me a photo of the store from the 1950's!
Thanks to all of you for honoring Perryopolis.com with your visits and your very entertaining and informative exchanges in "March Around the Diamond."

Has anyone ever heard of a place called Sweeney's? My mom had my dad driving us all over the place one time to eat there, and I don't think we ever DID find it. It became a family joke, and if anyone wondered aloud where we should eat, someone would usually say, "Let's go to SWEENEY'S!" (I'm sure it embarrassed my mom, but we were--ARE--a bunch of smart-alecks.) We got some snow today, but--unlike living in Michigan, where the snow & cold seem to last forever--it has mostly melted in true Philly style!
Hope you all made it thru the latest batch of winter storms safely!

I think you have that right for Perry !!! There might have been one more in Star Junction????David? There were two in Layton but I don't know the names and I know I was in a store in Whittset but can't remember the name. Some one going thru Perry would never guess we had such convienience. As a Girl Mom would send me with a list to the different stores for items that were "the best at one store or the other".
For a change we had NO SNOW for 4 days!!!!! It feels like a little bit of heaven. I have been searching for some sign of flowers, nothing yet.
Some birds are returning, so I take that as a good sign. There was a crow on my bird feeder today....we had a little talk!!!!!! I'm praying that we have no snow at the end of April for our move.

That being said, How many Food stores can we name that were in Perryopolis, late 40's - 50's, don't count any on "New Rt. 51".
How about in Star Junction?

Hello, one and all. I hate to give the impression that I am spying on my mom--Hallie Rolison to most of you, I guess--but I have been meaning to check out this site for quite some time, and just enjoyed going back a bit to read what all of you have written over the past couple of years. After having been taken to Perry a thousand times to visit my Aunt June--God love her!--and the place my mother was raised, I almost feel like an honorary member! It's pretty obvious that there was a lot of Perry included in our upbringing in Michigan. At any rate, I just wanted to post a little message, and I am glad I live in a country and in a time where people still remember that there are more important things in life than cell phones. (And thanks for keeping an eye on my rambunctious mother!)....Bill Robertson

Hi Frankie Knight, Pat, Bill, Jim, Littlie(pet name for Sistie)and any other best buddies out there,
Got home from Pittsburgh on the last day of November, my house looked so great to me, I was homesick. June is doing well, I'm proud of her. She wants to be able to walk without a cane, she's stubborn enough to do it too. She has physical therapy 5 days a week and a nurse comes in two days. i would have loved to bring her here for Christmas, but the trip would have been too long.
Frankie its been so many years, we would probably walk by each other and not know who we were passing.
I'm so sorry about your son going to Iraq Pat, it seems the same ones continue to protect and watch over us all here in America. I,ll pray for him,I hope he gets to stay home for the holidays.
All----, have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year, see you all in 2004(Is it possible???)

An Angel, that is tired of driving, had a box of Redstone candy sent out to us from Perry. Oh how can anything that is so good be so bad for you ??? It just can't be!!!! So, we ate it ALL !!You know Bill will not gain an ounce and I will put on two pounds I'm sure. It's a good thing I don't live in Perry or near by and have to shop near that candy !!
I've been down in the dumps because my son, Wayne, is being deployed to Iraq in Jan. He was to retire in June (Army all stop on that one). He was told to be ready to spend 18 to 24 months there. We hope to see him before he goes, this will make his 4th war. Yuck, Yuck & Double Yuck.
We had all let down our guard and had good thoughts of retirement, so this was a shock.

I think it was around 1954 when Layton really got a flood. My Grandparents had a camera, the little box type, wrapped & ready for my birthday in Oct.
They gave it to me early so I could take pictures, from the Bridge, of the flooding. Grandpap took me down to the Layton side of the bridge as far we could go and I snapped away, not knowing what I was doing. He asked me to be sure to get pictures of our Island and then we hurried home. Pap wanted to get back across the "Fill" and up the hill because he thought it might wash out. It did !!!
So what is going on in Layton now with all the flooding near by? Read that even some streets in Perry had floods. Would this be because of storm drains? Can't ever remember Perry getting flooded.

She is having visual problems & had surgery last month. That's because we're getting older than dirt.

O.K. I give up! Why is my name in red??
Had a wonderful , quick trip. Had fun in Mexico and didn't even get into any trouble! Well there was a minute at the border when I came close. You know where they ask you what country do you declare? I said Pennsylvania & Colorado.....How stupid is that? For a little bit I was glad I had my passport with me. The Border patrol was real nice and helped me along with getting USA from my brain to my mouth. He proably thought I had too much to drink & little did he know I don't drink at all.
Anyway, Jim is good and sends hellos to June, Sistie & Glenna, Peg and anyone else. He had a hard time trying to keep track of us. We had little time & lots to see & do. I looked at twelve houses & picked one with a back up.
So here we are at that spookey time of year again. Wonder if we find out anymore about the tricks of years gone by in Perry? pat

Just a bunch of different things on my mind today;
Glad our WebMaster & Wife are safe & seem to have Elec. Water etc. restored. Nice new things on Perry site. Wish people would send in more pictures for the Photo pages.
I whine a lot about the Snow, Dust, Bears, and how far it is to everything.....but there are many reasons I love it here. A huge Golden Eagel put on a wonderful show for me & my black Lab (Eli) Sunday. I felt if I put my arm out he would come to rest, he was gliding so low. I'm waiting to see if I get my usual fall visit from the Horn Owl. When I hear him, about 11p.m. I move to the glassed in porch & wait. Soner or later he will swoop down & pick up something for dinner. He only stays around for a few weeks.
I know Many people will be working their tails off from now thru Pioneer Days & after. Hats off to them. ( been there, done that ) Can't wait to see the pictures. Thought I might get back this year, cause fall is my favorite time of year in Pa. We have the Aspens here but I think the trees in Pa. are the best!! And I need to see my Grandson.
Starting a new job on Friday. Part time for an Engineering Co. in Fairplay. Bill will run the shop when I'm working. ( Fairplay got it's name from its card playing days. You could get a Fair Play in this town.)
Going to make a trip to N.M. to see Jim 18th - 22 of Oct. My Girlfriend Diane & I are going to make life hard on him for a few days. Ha Ha. Hope to go across the border one day. Also hope to make it back!!!!!
Returning My Harry Potter book to the Library yesterday ran into a Gal from Swickley, Pa. She was out here for a couple of weeks & just checking her E-mail. She did not know that Sam Hartsel was from Pa. & so she bought a History on Hartsel from the Library. You never know who you are going to run into in that little Library of ours.
Well, here goes a book in itself......pat

I don't know if Bill and Jim would have been old enough to remember. Our Grandmother was still living in her own home in Newell,Pa. The picture was hanging in what at the time was called the "parlor". It was a room that was rarely used and where she kept her player piano. She had this horsehide living room suit, the most unconfortable furniture I've ever sat on.I remember we would sneak into the unheated room sometimes because we weren't suppose to be in there. The reason I'm telling Bill all this info, sometimes, they spark memories. The picture was a copy of a painting, framed, it was large, about 4 foot square. Thats a guess, I mostly remember the scene.
Sorry about the snow a coming, thats the problem when you move into mountain country.
Hope the spelling isn't too bad, I have a reputation for being a lousy one.
Thanks for checking for me

Glenna, Bill does not remember seeing the painting. He talks to Jim almost every night & will ask him. Bill said Tom was pretty young & proably would not remember. This sounds like something that might show up in an Antique Store, it was painted not a Photo Right? I know this is something we should be able to research on the internet, just not sure how to approach it. We might try World War 1 paintings or something like that. I'll play around a bit & let you know if I come up with anything. Any suggestions from our Web Master or anyone else???

Sounds as if you are having great adventures with your "vistors".I don't think I'd venture out very often if I had so many furry neighbors!!
I have a question for Bill, Jim or Tom. Our grandmother(Grandmother Rolison) had a picture in her parlor. It was of a lady holding a child in her home standing at a dutch door. Only the top of the door was open and she was waving goodby to her first world war husband as he walked down the path.He had on a uniform, knicker type leggings. Sistie and I are trying to found the artist, maybe find where we could get a copy. You know how those memories are, they stay with you forever. Maybe Bill might know where it ended up. We would love to find the authors name.
Hope your bear friends decide to find other accommodations

I had the car all cleaned & parked facing out the drive way by our front gate, for a trip to Wheat Ridge Monday morning. This is 168 miles one way and I had hopes of getting back before dark. (No such luck) Anyway, as I approched the drivers side door I saw two Paw prints right below the window, prints in the driveway gravel & a pile of scat.
I yelled for Bill & he came out to confirm what I was seeing. His words of comfort to me......" Well, it is not a real large bear!"
I want to move!!!!

I do hope your bear visitor doesn't have a mate and babies who would enjoy a bath also. It could get a bit crowded Pat.
We in Delaware were lucky, the blackout missed us. Reading about the conduct of the people who were in or lived in New York and caught in the city at that time, it was commendable. They turned what could have been a calamity into party mode. It's good it all turned out well. Maybe now we can start to find out what is causing some of our electrial problems.
Haven't been on vacation since our trip to Colorado, Sistie sounds as if she had a grand time at Torch lake. Sounds like fun.
Hope all are well, in the Rolison clan.

The fire chief in our town has built a cute little pond behind our house. Because the water feeding into comes from a hot spring the fish he has stocked it with can stay all winter. They are beautiful and he has just about every color you can think of in there.
All summer the dogs have used it for a bath and every once in awhile we get to see some special bird nest for awhile.
But, Guess who is back? Yes, seems the Bear likes the warm water also! So now I go to bed at night knowing Mr. Bear is getting his 3am bath about 50 feet from where I'm sleeping. Wonder how many pretty fish will be left before he turns in for the winter???

Thanks for the Kennywood web site Webmaster, it brought back lovely memories and your right, the price is about standard for amusment parks today. As to the roller coasters, I've always been afraid of heights and that hasn't improved as I've aged.
I don't know if you have ever heard of Hersey Park, thats where we go now living in Delaware. It's about 2 hours away, a lovely park. They have some wonderful shows in the summer, I'm afraid thats my speed now.
Hope your house sells soon Pat, it's frustrating
when your ready to move and have to wait.
I haven't been writing lately, I've gotten a new internet, its taken some getting use to. My new E-mail address is email@example.com
Take care all

Rain in Perryopolis!!!!!

We are having a real rain!!!!!!! It is wonderful! The ground is wet and the air smells so good! Bill was just telling me last night on the phone how good it was to hear rain fall. He is staying in Scottdale. So, tonight I'll be able to ask him what sounds better than rain fall in Scottdale?

I forgot all about the little lake, bridge and row boats! NOw there is something I would like! I wonder if that is still there, bet not. Too tame for most people.
Bill is in Scottdale, Pa. One of his best buddies of 53 years passed on Sat. Maybe he will see June if he has time.

Ah, Kennywood....that will titillate the memory. My best friend lived in Monessen & they had Monessen
Days at Kennywood & I went with them several times.
What I remember so well about Kennywood are the roller coasters....the Racer, the Pippin & the Jack Rabbit..... loved them all.
Also, I remember a commons area where it was grassy & there was a little bridge over the stream where people rode in the canoes or row boats. What fun! God bless....

No bites on the house yet. Land is selling good but people want to build their own places & not one that was built in 1912!
I just can't do the Kennywood type rides anymore. I use to ride anything and everything and enjoy them. One day I went and told the people I was with I just don't want to do that & have never been on a ride again. So, anytime after that if I took kids or went with a group I took a book & enjoyed the little parks and people watched.
That Kennywood site is good & has a lot of good info. pat
By Webmaster ( - 22.214.171.124) on Saturday, July 12, 2003 - 12:37 pm:
I went to Kennywood a few years ago, and I thought that it was just as great as ever, allowing for my changed tastes with -- ahem er, ah, -- increased maturity. I rode the awesome Steel Phantom roller coaster (now gone) and was dog-sick when I got off. I drank a liter of ice water and got right back on and rode it again -- just to show it that I would not be beaten. It took about two years for my bruised right shoulder to heal after that ride. I also rode the old wooden coasters over and over again, and I agree with those connoisseurs who say that they're still the best. Now they're building The Phantom's Revenge, but I don't know that I'll be trying it...
Admission to Kennywood is $28.95 with unlimited rides -- not bad for a long day's entertainment in this age.
The Kennywood web site is worth a visit

Kennywood was a great park. I'm not sure if it was as great as I remember or the memories made it so.
Sistie(Hallie to most) and I knew all parts of Perryopolis and the surrounding area's. We got up in the morning in the summer and were off for the day. Blue Hole, also Creek Falls, we had our own private swimming pool. I would love to see it all again. Maybe the memories are better, I'm sure its all changed so much.
Did you sell your house Pat and when are you moving?
Hope everything works out the way you planned.

The Campbell Fire (Guffey) is fairly close to us.
Last night the smoke was nasty, seems to be going the other way today, towards Co. Springs. It is hot & no rain......send some of that rain you guys have back east !! I'm using most of my water for our Plants & flowers and pretty much losing the yard again this year.
My daughter was talking about going to Kennywood & so I started a trip in my mind (way back) about Happy days spent at that old park. We use to have almost as much fun on the school bus getting there as in the park.....well not really. I never rode the train to the park but I guess some Perry Folks did at one time. pat

Haven't been to Blue Hole in years, but I have such fond memories of hanging out there.
Sorry it's taken me so long to answer, but my daughter & granddauughter have been here the last 4 days & we were running around to graduation parties & visiting family. Went to Greenfield Village yesterday & it was so hot....in the 90's...today also.
Anyway, take care & God bless!!!!!

Now in Denver: Your Lotto money would go to to making a beautful park out of Blue Hole and your Seniors would go with out their perscriptions. The house value would go up for those who lived near by, but, so many are out of work that those people would not be able to sell their house if they wnted to. So in their frustration I guess they would go swiming in Blue Hole. Ah nothing new under the sun!

Glad you had an enjoyable trip Pat,
New Mexico is lovely but I don't think I could take the heat. You would think I was going through the change, always warm. I thought part of aging was being cold all the time. Nobody informed me though.
Leaving for New Jersey tomorrow, my grandaughter is in a ballet recital, keeps me busy visiting all their events.
Good luck on your new home, you "Perryopolis" gals will do great!!
By prolison ( - 188.8.131.52) on Monday, June 9, 2003 - 06:30 pm:
Well, Those Perryopolis Gals are tough !!! Mom handled the trip to Deming, N.M. like a trooper.
She stayed on her pain pills & had hot & cold pack with her & used her cane. We signed her up for some new Apts. that are to be ready in Jan.
We had dinner with Jim one evening & checked out his new abode. I checked out the house that Bill picked out for us & lined up a 2nd choice in case we don't sell our place in time for the first house. We checked out the Sr. Center twice & Mom really likes it, Who would not? It is about as big as a high school & just has every kind of service & activities you could want & 15 vans to take you to & fro. We were busy & it was Hot!
Glad to be home as always, no matter where you live it is always good to be home. pat

David lives in Longmont, it's next door to Boulder.
We all had dinner there one night. Its not the sleepy little town it once was. It's so congested, traffic was bumper to bumper.
The most dangerous area we were in coming home was in the mountains of Taos New Mexico. It was beautiful, but going up and down those mountains was so scary. It doesn't help that I don't like heights!! And where are the guard rails in the mountains?? A person could get a real fright driving "them hills".
I've been trying to plant and weed but its all in between the rain. Everything is so beautiful and green but its wet back here.

Did you all get up to Boulder? I know June went to school there & it would be interesting to know what she thought of it now.
I feel proud when I make it to Denver or Colorado Springs and back to my back woods Hartsel. The Traffic & Crazy drivers are almost more then I can handle. You gals should get a medal.
That said, Mom & I are taking off June 1st for Deming, N.M. /Jim is now living there & loves it. Bill put money on a place for us & I need to check it out. Mom needs to find a place there & just look the place over in General. I also have to find a couple of back up places in case our house does not sell in time for us to get the one Bill picked. pat

So sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, that was a long trip for Thelma, Louise, and Louise(June, Glenna, and Sistie). At 67, 70, and 81, we were proud that we managed to cross the North route into Colorado. We enjoyed each others company so much we never turned the radio on.
I've been trying to plant flowers in between the rain here. It has done nothing but rain but the grass is coming up and everything is a beautiful shade of green. I missed my lilacs blooming though.
June had a lovely time, did very well on the trip. We felt bad to miss you guys again, fate is a harsh taskmaster, we may meet when we"re all in our wheelchairs??
By Webmaster ( - 22.214.171.124) on Friday, May 23, 2003 - 09:02 am:
Thanks for your kind remarks, Pat. We had a lot of winter damage to our lawn and various plantings, and in addition to the over $2k that I paid a landscaper to repair some of the damage, I've been working like a dog on the rare dry days this spring to repair the rest. Our rainfall to date is over 4" above normal and 7" above last year, when we had a severe drought. We planted some rhododendrons near our crab porch (that's the screened-in area where we Marylanders sit and eat hard crabs several times during the summer). They were to have been white, but they have bloomed pink. We don't know if that's because of acid soil or because they were mis-labeled. Anyway, look for pictures of them soon.
We don't have tumbleweeds, of course, but I was in West Texas for several years during my Air Force service, and I am quite familiar with tumbleweeds, thank you.
I owe you a response on another question: obituaries. This is easier said than done; I have no source for such information. I can't just copy them from a newspaper. One possibility would be for a volunteer to comb the on-line papers and post a list of names of the deceased to The Grist Mill with links to the relevant newspaper articles.

David, Those pictures of the flowers & trees are so wonderful ! I do miss this beauty. Yesterday I worked so hard raking our dirt yard, cleaning out all the tumble weed from the fences, and all the other stuff our high winds blew in. Seeing my two tulips bloom and finding that my Wooly Veronica made it thru the winter gave me some hope. Now if the liliac would start to get leaves and some of the other bushes would green up I would feel better. pat

Glenna, Good we will all be able to get togeather. Do you guys want to call me when you are here? Yes, Jim needs oxygen at all times and yes, the altitude also bothers mom. Makes her feel tired & I think that also comes from the clogged artery.

It's me again Pat,
Jonathan lives in Westminster and Tracy and David moved to Boulter last year. Tracy and David sold their house in Breckenridge, so we won't be going there. We will be staying in Colorado until the 15th or 16th of the month, so that will give us plenty of time to visit you all. We're have a car, so will be independent, and can go when we please.
I've neve asked about Jim, I didn't know if he needed to be on oxygen all the time or not.Sistie and I were so lucky, we came through the same surgery in a fairly healthy state.
Your mom also has some problems with the alitude??
So do I, thanks for the advice, we're try that. I've always drank a lot of water, so that won't be difficult for me to do.
I hope your son is safe, the news is sounding better, but it's going to be a long time before all of this over there is stable.
As I told you before, for some reason, there is only so much room to write on in these e-mails and I've run out of writing room.
Take care, tell Bill and Jim I asked about the both.

Please drink lots of water ( I know, just make more stops ) and eat Bananas (for the potassium) as you start into Denver & while you are here. It really does help with the Altitude thing. Seems it does not effect the younger ones as much as it does us. so thought I should say something. pat

Are you "old broads" going into Denver or Breckenridge? ( Is it true old broads have more fun?!!!!!!!)
O.K. Bill & Jim are leaving for Deming N.M. early on May 3....they should be back 9th, 10th or at latest 11th. Our Church is having a Mothers Day Tea on the 10th & I asked Bill to take care of the store for me that day, so he better be back!!
Mom & I will get with you all even if the guys are gone, but really hope to get all of us togeather.
The cold & snow & wind have been taking a toll on us and Jim & Mom need to get to a lower altitude for their health asap and we all need to live closer togeather so Bill & I can help them better. We do love it here....but.
Maybe I've been using to much space & David had to shorten us up a bit????? I can get long winded about nothing. pat

As to falling Pat, I don't know what happened to me in the month of March, I fell 4 times and I never fall!! Didn't get hurt any of those times. I really thought I would not be able to walk the next day, but I popped back up. Everything working fine.

There is one thing about Perryopolis: You can count on it being pretty much the same all the time and you know what? Mostly that is good.
Last night it was 20 degrees here and today it was 70. Yesterday I got wind burn walking to the P.O. Today, I got sun burned doing the same.
However, Today on the way to Buena Vista, to Check up on Jim & My mom, we saw a Bald Eagle pull a fish from the river (looks like a Pa. Creek) and two seperate herds of antelope. I'll never get use to seeing such things.....I love it!
Tonight the coyotes are yelling from ridge to ridge. Weird, but also kind of special. And yes, they are "in" all the time here you just need to get a ranchers O.K. to hunt them on their property.
I don't even notice the cattle & horse much any more except when a herd of them run wild in circles around my house. And the Buffalo (they are sooo Ugly) well 200 outside my back yard get me just a little nervous.
My Lab just chased a bunny out of the yard & that is something we don't see much around here, but that is something I could always count on seeing in Perryopolis.

If a person enters their e-mail address when posting (as Frankie did) all you have to do is click on their name and your e-mail program should open with a new message addressed to that person. This is why posters' names appear in blue; they are hyperlinks. If this doesn't work, your software is not configured properly and you need to look at your Internet settings.
In addition, Frankie's e-mail address is listed on the Classmates Page.

I read where people were asking how to get to the old Blue Hole and Creek Falls. You half to go through Layton and up Layton Hill to the top and turn right at the stop sign go past theKnight Farm turn left on what they call Tower Road now.Go about half mile Blue Hole on the left, then go about another half mile to the path that leads down to Creek Falls. You can also get to it going into Chaintown. I remember you as you was in the same class as my cousin Bernie Morgan.

Sorry, Hallie, but you can't have the last word, either... For our neck of the woods (Delaware for Glenna, Maryland for me) this was the Grandaddy Snowstorm! And I remember the storm of November, 1950, too!
When an area that routinely gets a few inches of snow in a year gets 29 inches in a single snowfall, that's a serious storm! BWI airport, not far from my home, got 40-1/2 inches in February. The season total is 56 inches.
There have been serious snows here in March, as well, but we are hopeful that this month will be warmer and drier. Now of course, we face the floods...
By Hallie Rolison Robertson ( - 18.104.22.168) on Tuesday, March 4, 2003 - 12:19 am:
You know, I just can't let my big sister get the last word in here!!!! We didn't have as much snow...it has snowed 3 or 4 times and we have lots of snow on the ground but it has been so cold. Last week as I drove to my son's house, I drove through the park because it is so pristine & there were several areas where great gobs of kids had turned it into a sledding heaven. They had all kinds of sleds......round plastic discs, long plastic sleds, long wooden sleds....it took me back to November of 1950 when we had our "big snow" in western Pennsylvania. According to the newspapers, it started somewhat as it did on the eastern seaboard last month......very heavy snowfall that just wouldn't quit. I don't remember any of that....I remember the days after when no traffic could move in Perryopolis & Perry Hill was ours. Those of you who remember, we sledded until we couldn't go down that hill one more time......went up to Frank & Helen's for some hot chocolate & then we sledded for a few more hours.Anyway, I am so grateful to God for my youth & the opportunity to grow up in such a wonderful town. God bless the U.S.A.!!!!!!

Speaking of snow, I lived and grew up in Perryopolis when we had the "big storm" but the blizzard we had here in Dover Delaware two weeks ago was the most snow I have ever seen. We had 31 inches, and it was amazing how fast it came down. It started early in the morning on Sunday, Feb. 16th, and we had mountains by noon. This beautiful virginal whitness all around us. I felt cut off from everyone,no traffic, no one outside cleaning their driveways, it was as if everyone had moved away and I was all alone. It was scary in an errie kind of way.
In the present,we have television, radio, phones, all types of instant conmunication, central heating, electricity to light the dark, indoor plumbing so we needn't go out in that isolation.
You could almost hear or feel the ghosts of past era's. They lived this way every winter without the benefit of the above comforts.
We are so blessed in this country, most of us went to bed on Feb.16th with a full belly and we didn't have to trap or catch our dinner.
Lessons are gifts from God I believe and I was taught on Feb.16th. It was a good day for me.
Hi to Pat, my Littlie, and also welcome Jenny

Jeez! I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, and you want me to tell you what I was doing 53 years ago!
Actually, I remember my Dad heating my scratchy wool leggings over the register above the coal furnace. I would go out and sled for a time, then come back in and get my leggings dried out and warmed up again. It seems like I stayed out for hours at a stretch between warmups, but it was probably just a few minutes.
And, of course, I built the granddaddy of all snow men.

O.K., Frankie & everybody else who has been part of this discussion......it is official. The snow started falling Nov. 25, 1950 & ended Nov.27, 1950.Pittsburgh was blanketed with up to 30" of snow. If you would like to read it yourself, just go to Yahoo.com & punch in Snowstorm 1950.....Snowstorm #8 is ours. Interesting reading.

I'm amazed how fast the holidays flew by. All the hustle and fuss, and its all over.
I had a wonderful Christmas this year, my son Sam who lives in Annapolis Maryland went to pick up my sister June Rolison on the 19th of December. She lives in Perryopolis. I picked her up the next day and brought her to Dover Delaware. She had a lovely time, we kept her very busy, plus I had 24 for Christmas eve. A good chance for her to visit with all her nieces and nephews. Also her great neices and nephews. There were 11 of the youngsters here.
I took June home on the Monday before New Year's Eve. I stayed until the following Tuesday so I got to enjoy my favorite town.
Sorry about the visit from the bears Pat, must of been a little scary. My two live in a more populated area of Colorado, Westminster and Bolder.
Lets pray that Iraq will disarm and Sadarm Hussein resigns, that would be a wonderful start to the New Year.

Ginny, I'm the one with the Bear! Well it turned out to be more than one. There were 3 in the area but one seemed to be stocking our house. We would "erase" it's foot prints each day & then check in the mornings. It made cirles around the house......twice got the dumpster. They were just really having a hard time finding food this year with the fires and drought. We are in Hartsel, Co. right smack dab in the middle. pat
p.s. Glad to see new names.....David has made such a good site....need to let more people know about it!

We spent some time at the Taos Pueblo last week. When you are on Pueblo Ground you are no longer "in" the United States. The Rules are different. Men walk around wraped in blankets and packs of hungry looking dogs follow at your heals. Women bake tasty bread in little outdoor ovens. There is a different look in the Childrens faces and older people really look old. I circled the Pueblos old cemetery with the raised mounds and wooden cross markers. There was a new Stone, I leaned in to read. A US Army Sergent lay under the fresh mound with the new stone. I could not see the date and was about to go over the low fence to have a better look. My CW3 Son had to remind me that the Rules did not allow us to walk in the cemetery.......We were not in The United States. pat

Well, Christmas is over...... it was wonderful to be with beloved family members.... worship God in this beautiful season and pray for peace & love.
On the downside, millions of dollars worth of broken toys strew living rooms across the country, aunties & uncles gained 10 pounds, & countless dogs got into the turkey carcasses & vomited all over the new carpeting.
But, it was great fun.....even if you don't like what Buddy gave you for Christmas.....hey ....there's next year. God bless you all.....and I hope that you had a perfect & wonderful Christmas! ( I did.)

I could usally hold my own in class at Perry, however, when I got stuck and could not understand what the teacher or the book had to say, I would ask David Illig. He had a way of explaining that was easy for me to understand.
Fast forward.......My daughter was in Kindergarden and I had a 4 month old baby boy, a part time job and I was taking classes when I had to have an operation. So I'm in the Hospital with my books & trying to get a paper done for a pass/fail grade. I'm about as stressed as a person can get and I'm hurting and I'm stuck! The old noodle just isn't working! The nurse comes in and says something about the light and she will get me a pill. I lost it.....I screamed at her...." I don't need a pill, I need a David Illig."
Well, she called my husband. He got a sitter & came to the hospital & we talked & laughed about it. I got a Pass on my paper. But anytime I got fussed up about something after that, my husband would say.....I think you need a David Illig and that would make me crack up!
Hope you didn't mind David !

I do remember Blue Hole and Creek Falls.Blue Hole was so clear, you could see all the way to the bottom, everything was visable!!!! And your so right Sistie(Hallie), we must of walked a half mile or more to get to Creek Falls. We would leave our bikes at the last place we could ride to and walk the rest of the way. There were never more than 4 or 5 of us, but we would have a marvelous time jumping off of the rocks.I think I was one of the "sissies", I don't think I ever jumped. Can you imagine moms today allowing their children to stray so far from home? Of course, many times our parents didn't know where we were.We roamed everyhere on our bikes, our bikes to us were what cars are to our grandchildren. We had such wonderful clean fun.I remember Sistie, Sarah Lynn, and myself biked all the way to Monessen. We told our mom when we were all grown up.
You'r so right about the war Pat, we all get in out "confortable " nocks, and forget our boys are over there. We all have a short memory on unpleasantness unless we are personally involved.
I don't know if you have my boys telephone numbers, but David now lives in Bolter and Jonathan is in Wisterminster. Give them a call one day, its all"kin folk"!!!!!!
Have a good day all

I just got back from Perry last night. The new paint job on the school is really great. A 1000% improvement over the "DOG POOP" brown it has been. It's done in shades of beige and the Commodore red trim on the front really sets it off. The school once again looks bright and is an asset to our town. Someone showed taste and imagination this time. It still doesn't look as good as the brick did, but that's not news to anyone.
Also went down to the new park. What a wonderful addition to the community.
Didn't have a lot of time, only spent one day in Perry. Hope to get back again in October and explore some more of the area.

Hi all, Pat,Bill, Sistie(Hallie), David,
So sorry to here of your injury David, it's so hard to realize that we aren't as lumber as we once were, glad you are mending.
The church plan is not only amazing, but truley wonderful Pat. When ever you have a problem, the church is in your front yard!! Heck, you don't even have to change out of your pj's. Good for you Pat and Bill, you have done a good deed.
Hi Littlie,(pet name for Hallie, Sistie)
Am so looking forward to your visit on the 23rd of July. We will just play it by air so far as to our activities, but you and I never needed "things" to keep us busy, we could sit and talk for hours.
Blue Hole, such memories, we loved going there. When you think of it now, we would never allow our children or grandchildren to do something so dangerous, but we would go, only two or three of us. We must of been blessed, we always managed to get home in time for dinner. They were the golden years of childhood. Is Blue Hole still there?? I've never checked when I come home, next time Sistie.
God bless all, hi June, maybe someone will read this and tell you I sent a greeting.

David, Pretty simple....Bill & I and a few other couples traveled 30 miles one way to go to church each Sunday. We have a Bible study that meets in the Community Center (the old 1800's School house for the kids & Adults meeting in the Libary ( the old 1800's Teachery) Now old Sam Hartsel, From Pa. built almost everything a town needed, but not a church. Hartsel has never had a church.
So, One night at Bible Study we said Why don't we have a Church? Thus, Bill & I gave our front yard for the church to be built. It was a pretty big front yard.
Our concrete has been laid and our structure arrives on the 12th & a crew comes to errect it on the 13th. Have you ever seen DIA or the building they put up at ground 0 at the world trade center? It is made of that material. Sprung Instant Structures. Ours will be round. We will have a chemical tolit and a cystern (sp) and some other different things for such a back woods town!
Should be fun !
So along with the smoke from the fires, we have had the dust from the very dry ground as the back hoes & dozers did their work. AND it has been very busy at my house. pat

Tha nks so much for sending the get-well card. My arm is on the mend, though I don't expect to have full use of it for some time.
Did I tell you how I injured it? Maybe you'll want me to send the card back when I tell you -- I was racing my 8-year-old niece on a Razor Scooter when I went off the pavement and into the grass. The scooter stopped immediately, but I didn't. That's how we children learn about life, I guess.
I'll get your reunion photo in the mail this week.
Very best regards,

Glenna, WE are dealing with the smoke & ash from the Hayman fire. Some rain Finally tonight. We are also building a church in our front yard and that causes a lot of dust. We went to a "Fire Meeting" on Sunday. They are saying for us to expect fires all summer and into we start getting snow!!! They explained how to leave our house & what to take etc.
By Glenna ( - 18.104.22.168) on Thursday, June 20, 2002 - 09:18 pm:
Don't know how close you are to most of the fire area, the last I heard it was near Colorado Springs. Terrible thing, boys said it isn't near them. David lives in Bulter, and Jonathan is in Westminster.
Glad you saw June, I spend almost a week with her the end of June. I wish she was closer, but thats the way we live today, at different ends of the Country.
Hope everything is well with you, until we "meet" again, Glenna

We had a very nice time in Pa. Loved getting together with June. Dealing with getting caught back up at work & home. Dealing with the fires, mostly the Hayman fire now. Bought a stone in the log cabin shop & it looks real nice in my flower garden........no water very little in the garden this year. The Green in Pa. was almost over whelming.......but you can keep the humidity ! ! !

Hi All who may travel down this web site,
Also Pat and Bill, if you go to lunch when you're home with June (Perryopolis, I still refer to it that way, home!) please tell her I said hi.
I haven't been on as much as I would like lately, the electrical storm knocked out my computer phone line the other night and also I've been traveling the last month or so.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Our fiftieth school reunion was a real blast. Class of 52, very nice to see all my former classmates. Everyone looked lovely, and I think they were all as thrilled as I was to be there.
How are you Sistie? maybe talk tonight

Blue Hole..... I have never in my life seen water as clear or a pool as great as Blue Hole. Some of my best memories of summer are of Blue Hole........
By prolison ( - 22.214.171.124) on Friday, May 10, 2002 - 09:13 pm:
O.K. a few miles from the Diamond, but do you remember Blue Hole? Well, you could have knocked me over when I found out that our Pastor, here in the middle of Colorado, used to swim at Blue Hole. He lived in Pittsburgh at the time and they would drive up there on hot summer days to swim. Small world.
David.......there has to be someone that can use a camera!

Hi to Perryopolis, this is June Rolison. I'm visiting my sister Glenna Nassar in Dover, DE. We had a wonderful Easter dinner -- Glenna is a great cook! Got to visit with a lot of my nieces and nephews, enjoyed that part of my visit. The weather has been great, enjoyed the warmer weather. Hi Pat Rolison, also Bill! Would enjoy visiting with you both again in Colorado. You should call my nephews; I'm sure they would like a visit from you. I'm going home on Wednesday. I hope the warmer weather continues in Perryopolis. Hi, Little Sister (Sistie). Hello to my friends in Perry, see you all soon. Bye!

Yes you can order Redstone Candy at Christmas and Easter. Call Redstone Candies at Republic, Pa. 15475 That is how I get mine sent to me in Colorado. Once you start getting it you will get order forms in the mail so you can place your order in time for shipping.
By Sandy ( - 126.96.36.199) on Thursday, March 14, 2002 - 01:38 pm:
Hi! Can Redstone Candy be ORDERED???? If it can, please tell me how I can order some. I love the chocolate nut squares. I have told my hubby about this candy, but he has yet to taste it! Please let me know if I can order it. That would be great!

Oh my "goodness" My Redstone Candy came today! Just as good as ever. I had my very small taste and must hurry and start giving it away before the temptation of more small taste sets in. Bill of course can eat as much as he wants. We have to make a trip into the big city tomorrow (Denver) and I'm so glad the weather is going to be nice. I've driven in snow all my life but it is different here !!!! To all who know my Mom, Roanna....she is moving but will have the same P.O. & Phone number. pat

Hey, big sister........I measured our walk to school the last time I was home. We walked .8 of a mile to school, home for lunch, back to school & then home in the afternoon. No wonder our legs were so darned skinny.
Anyway, you are absolutely right..........Perryopolis was blessed by God. What a great place to grow up & what a wonderful time to grow up there!
By prolison ( - 220.127.116.11) on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 11:15 pm:
My order for Redstone Easter Candy should be on it's way. Most of it will get given away. I'm sure there is a lot of memories connected with my taste buds, however, All the "natives" I give the candy to out here, just love it. Good to know June will be with you Glenna.
Is it warm anywhere? We have been -10 to -14 below everynight this week and I'm sure getting to hate the wind!
By Glenna R. Nassar ( - 18.104.22.168) on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 - 01:43 am:
My sister June(she lives in Perryopolis) is coming for Easter, I'll have to tell her to bring some Redstone candy. I don't remember it, but I do remember getting the little boxes of candy every year at Christmas. Was it that delicious or does the memories have much to do with the taste. I'm not sure, but was there ever a more wonderful place to grow up than Perryopolis. My grandchildren have to be taken anywhere they go, sports, school events, they are losing so many adventures that we were able to have. My sister and I walked to school every day and back and forth for lunch. We lived past the Greek Catholic Church, it must have been a mile to school. We didn't notice. The walk was freedom, a time to talk. Dolores Katrinak walked with us, she lived on the top of the hill toward Star Junction on what was called old 51.It was a grand time and a good life. I'll always miss that part of my history.
By prolison ( - 22.214.171.124) on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 - 11:28 pm:
I would thank Hallie if I were not stuffing my face with Redstone.......Thank you & thanks from Bill What a surprise!!!!!!!!!
By prolison ( - 126.96.36.199) on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 - 12:05 am:
Oh boy, just wait.....Redstone also does the most wonderful Easter candy!!!! I need to get an order form soon.
My mother, Roanna, spent the week-end with me, while Bill was taking a class in Denver. She gets a kick out of our "outhouse". Mom smokes (YUCK) and I do not let anyone smoke in my house......so she makes use of the outhouse!!! This got us talking about who had out houses in Perry and who had indoor plumbing first etc. Seems like some of the outhouses in Perry took some pretty big hits at Halloween.......I'm sure you gals had nothing to do with anything like that....sounds like a "Guy" thing.

I answered this once, but something went haywire. Yes, Glenna, I do remember dancing in Star Junction: we were freshmen, Gabe took us & we danced to " Slow Boat To China" on the jukebox. Ah, yes! Swing & Sway with Sammy Kaye. And please don't tell any of my Halloween secrets........while I have admitted that I was
not an angel, I made NO confessions of guilt. And, Pat, you were absolutely right.......I bought a box of Redstone candy on Monday......it was so delicious that I ate the whole box. June said it's the same candy that they gave us at Sunday School at Christmas & I vaguely remember the little box but I forgot the candy. God bless everybody!

I was reading all the conversations between Sistie(my sister) and Pat(married to my first cousin).
Talking about dancing, Sistie do you remember going to dances above the old company store in Star Junction? I think we were juniors, there was a record box, I've forgotten what we called them(age). We had grand times growing up. I noticed you didn't tell all the things we did at Halloween, we did have fun.
I'm glad this site is getting more "active". The webmaster has done such a terrific job, I would like to see more people that I know write in. See you tonight on the internet Sistie.

Hallie.......you just have to have some Redstone Candy (little taste) some how some way!
I remember going to Karolick's Theater a lot but not for anything special for Christmas. My mom
said they use to dance above the theater. That made me remember that people use to dance above the old Leader store. Also, they had some big dances out at Spillway Lake in the summer time.
By Hallie ( - 22.214.171.124) on Saturday, December 8, 2001 - 11:49 pm:
I don't remember Redstone candy at all------- but does anyone else remember going to the movies right before Christmas? I think that it was underwritten by the Lions Club------ we went to Karolcik's theatre en masse where we were treated to a movie & a bag of tasty goodies. What fun!!!!

The Snow of 1950 occurred on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The weather forecast for the day was 'A possibility of snow flurries'. At the time I was commuting to work in Pittsburgh by automobile. By the time I got to Pleasant Hills, the flurries had accumulated several inches and traffic was pretty well snarled. My passenger and I decided to park the automobile and continue by bus. I believe that I arrived at the office in downtown at about 10 AM. I left the office around 4PM and got to my home in Layton after midnight. Remember, in 1950 Route 51 was a crooked, hilly two lane highway. I did not go to the office on Monday but I did go to Pittsburgh on Tuesday using the B & O commuter. I used the commuter the rest of that winter.
By Pat Rolison ( - 188.8.131.52) on Monday, December 3, 2001 - 11:58 pm:
I got a nice E-mail today saying the big snow came the night before Thanksgiving 1950.
UPS brought my order of Redstone,Pa Candy today which brought another round of memories. We always got a small box of Redstone candy from our church at Christmas, but I seem to remember "Santa" giving out Redstone & other stuff at the Diamond one year.
By Pat Rolison ( - 184.108.40.206) on Sunday, December 2, 2001 - 07:20 pm:
Jim said 1950 also, for the big snow in Western Pa. Wish we could find out for sure. He added that they didn't go to school in Scottdale for Two Weeks! Can you picture the kids missing that much school today?
By firstname.lastname@example.org ( - 220.127.116.11) on Saturday, November 24, 2001 - 11:45 pm:
Bill said he thought it was 1950. I just remember it was fun for us kids! The sledding was great every where. After we got the streets clear in town we headed for Grandmas & Dad did some clearing so they could get out. Then all of us kids got out the sleds and built a bonfire at the bottom of the hill. Grams had hot cocoa at the top of the hill.........what a day/night! By the time I got home I was soooo frozen. I got to ride on the Dozer & people were cheering Dad. Hard to forget stuff like that.It was just such a fun time.......too bad kids don't get to enjoy these things today.
By Hallie ( - 18.104.22.168) on Friday, November 23, 2001 - 04:47 pm:
Pat____ I think that it was earlier______ about 1951______ I was still in high school. It was great if we're thinking of the same snow storm. All of the roads were closed & we had such great fun sledding down Perry hill! We even gave cemeterry hill a run or two. Those were the days. You're so young Pat_______ how can you remember?
By prolison@Chaffee.net ( - 22.214.171.124) on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 - 10:25 pm:
Now I'm thinking about past Thanksgivings. I believe it was 1954 when Perryopolis really got snowed in. I mean this was a HUGE snow, no one could get around. My Dad, A.J., just happened to have a Bull Dozer, that he kept parked in front of our house, at that time. Someone from "the Town" called and for years the town streets carried the cleat marks from Dads Dozer.
By Hallie ( - 126.96.36.199) on Sunday, November 11, 2001 - 11:54 pm:
Please------ we're talking tick-tacking here----- you know buckets of water perched on partially opened screen doors, a cake of soap rubbed on windows. Small town kids weren't sophisticated enough to do anything bad.Wouldn't you just love to be young again------in the fifties????

Pat------ you were probably afraid because it was a funeral home! Tick tack with corn? My goodness I should have taken you kids in hand & taught you a thing or two about tick tacking!!!!
By prolison@Chaffee.net ( - 18.104.22.168) on Friday, November 9, 2001 - 11:12 pm:
Does anyone remember Wades (sp) Funeral Home?
I really liked Mrs. Wade and she always asked us to come to their place in our Halloween Costumes and she would go to great pains pretending not to know who we were. Then she would give us tons of candy bars (you remember the full size candy bars).
However, Mr. Wade would always park the Big Old Black Hearse so that you had to go by it to get to the door. Then he would stand dressed all in black in the shadows of their hall way and just look very ominous.
This is the only house in Perry I did not tick tack with corn.
By David Illig ( - 22.214.171.124) on Thursday, November 8, 2001 - 09:28 pm:
Ron, are you suggesting that my memory is failing, perhaps due to old age? I remember us Star Junction kids as the politest, most civilized that you can imagine! Anyway, I said that throwing corn was the worst trick that most of us pulled. I didn't discuss what I did or didn't do!
By Ron Tonozzi ( - 126.96.36.199) on Thursday, November 8, 2001 - 05:25 pm:
I remember you doing a lot more than throwing corn, of course, you had a lot of help form a few kids in Star Junction.
By Hallie Rolison ( - 188.8.131.52) on Thursday, November 1, 2001 - 10:45 pm:
Many years ago, my neighbor Mr. Curtis, was the high school principal. On Halloween his porch furniture appeared on the top of the war memorial. I did lots of things around Perry, but this wasn't one of them. Anyway, I was just a little kid! But, lo and behold, these many years later I know who did it! But, I'll never tell. Oh, for those good old days!!!!!!!!!
By David Illig ( - 184.108.40.206) on Thursday, November 1, 2001 - 08:37 am:
Yeah, Pat, you guys in Perry had it good. How we poor people in Star Junction envied your paved streets as we paraded around in our mud and red dog!
Now my wife chimes in: "MUD!? You had MUD!? When I was a kid we were so poor we couldn't afford mud!"
My favorite memory is the sound of hard, dry grains of corn hitting wooden porches. Throwing corn was, I believe, the worst trick that most of us pulled. How quaint that seems in today's meaner world.
By Pat Rolison ( - 220.127.116.11) on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 11:04 pm:
After giving out our bags of goodies to the kids tonight, I started thinking about how we marched around the Diamond in our Halloween Costumes. Most of these were home made and very nice. I remember walking behind a huge wedge of cheese one year. Everytime the cheese looked right or left I had to duck to keep from getting hit!!!!Just wonder if the kids are still marching around the Diamond? Anyone have any memories to share????????
